My journey to wife, stepmom and author....
I met my husband, a firefighter, in 2010. We married a few years later, where I entered the terrain of instant parenthood to his amazing and vibrant young daughter. It was at that moment I began my research of children's books in hopes of finding ways to better explain to this extraordinary little girl what my role was in her life, and how I now fit into her family dynamic.
Unfortunately, every book on the market seemed to be written for children whose parents are divorced, which is not the way my stepdaughters life began. We were able to "change" the words for a few years, but as my stepdaughter grew and learned to read on her own she discovered the story books were no longer relatable to her real life story.
Thus, my series began...
The "When Kids" Series was born in the fall of 2017 after a push in the right direction from a fellow Stepmom and friend.
My husband, stepdaughter and I reside just south of the Tampa Bay area and are all natives to Florida. I have been accustom to blended families since I was a little girl, thanks to my mother and stepfather.
I grew up knowing only love from my stepfather and his entire family. I am beyond fortunate that my family continues to radiate that love to this day as they have been so welcoming of my husband and stepdaughter from the very first moment.
My family has been such a wonderful support system, I couldn't ask for a better husband or daughter, encouraging me every step of the way as I navigate the road to becoming a published children's author. I've come to embrace this sometimes chaotic lifestyle we called a blended family and I would not change any of it.
I enjoy the outdoors and all that Florida has to offer for our family. When we aren't taking golf cart rides to eat sushi, we are catching fish fresh from the gulf waters. I live on coffee and anything pumpkin spice. I am beyond thankful to have finally put my passion of writing to use and I hope my books inspire others and touch the lives of kids and families for years to come.
